Aaron R. Obituary

David R. , Aaron , - of West Trenton, David R. Aaron of West Trenton, New Jersey, passed on to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2023. The state police officer, husband, father, grandfather and friend will be remembered fondly by the many whose lives he touched in his 90 years.

Born to Maurice and Margaret Aaron in 1932 in Vineland, New Jersey, David was a lifelong stand-out athlete. After graduating from Pleasantville High School, David went on to play baseball at Waynesburg College. He was even invited by the Baltimore Orioles to attend their training camp alongside a few other unsigned players and the team's signed rookies, indicating the Orioles were interested in signing him. Soon after attending the camp, he was called on to enlist in the Army where he served in the Military Police. Before entering the State Police, David was working on a master's degree at Temple University.

In 1957, David met the love of his life, his "dear" Marie Elliff. They were married for over 64 years.

In 1960, David began his 26-year tenure as a New Jersey State Police Officer. He transferred to Division Headquarters in 1966 and was a founding member of the Uniform Crime Reporting Unit and later was the Bureau Chief of the Criminal Justice Records Bureau. He retired as a captain and was a member of the Association of Former New Jersey State Troopers and the Fraternal Order of Police Ewing Lodge No. 083.

Following his State Police service, David became an Investigator in the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, focusing on transportation, environmental protection, and insurance fraud. He also was instrumental in the Police Executive Task Force on Crime.

For someone who really did not like to travel, he went on many trips to please his wife and enjoyed them more than he would've liked to admit, especially when joined by other Troopers and their wives.

He spent many years as an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Princeton Alliance Church and, most recently, Central Church in Ewing. Faith and family were the closest things to David's heart, and he loved nothing more than eating a good meal with his family, especially his grandchildren.

David was a dedicated, lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan, and his loved ones always gathered around the TV to enjoy games with him. Much of David's post-retirement years were spent searching through yard sales. He enjoyed collecting and selling the treasures he uncovered, mostly at the Golden Nugget in Lambertville, where everyone seemed to know his name, and for a short time at his own shop, Good Oldies, near Peddler's Village.

David was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Margaret Aaron, his brothers Robert and George Aaron and sister-in-law Doris Aaron. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Elliff) Aaron, his daughter and son-in-law Connie and John Raskin of Pennington, New Jersey and grandchildren

Alexandra and John Raskin; his daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Dale Woodring of Bel Air, Maryland, and granddaughter Megan Woodring.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 at Central Church, 2015 Pennington Road, Ewing Township, New Jersey 08618. Calling hours will be held at the church preceding the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
