BRYANT, DEACONESS RUBY E. (NÉE GORE) 93 - Wife, mother, sister, and faithful servant, transitioned this life at Fountain Springs, Cape May Courthouse, NJ, Tuesday, December 24, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born January 21, 1931, in Supply, NC, to the late Deacon Elijah and Deaconess Carrie Gore. She attended grade school in the Cedar Grove school system. On December 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Bryant Sr. in Castle Hayne, NC. As the wife of a U.S. Coast Guardsman, she traveled with her husband to numerous duty stations, including Bermuda, New London, CT, and Santa Barbara, CA. The Bryant family settled in Pleasantville in 1966. Deaconess Bryant proudly served as a stay-at-home mom and later served as a nurse's aide for nearly 30 years. Ruby Bryant was a 57-year member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Pleasantville, where she served as a member of the Deaconess Board, the Usher Board, and the Excelsiors Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Ruby Bryant was preceded in death by three siblings and her son-in-law, Arthur "Beebo" Irwin. She is survived by her children, John II and wife Marla; daughters Corliss and Dawn; five grandchildren, John III (Jaebee) and wife Kim, Chantal (Nikki) and husband Sean Blake, Brittany, Marshele, and Kyle; great-grandson Masai; a host of other family (three brothers, two sisters, cousins) and countless friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 353 S. New Road, Pleasantville, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Rev. Marion McLaurin is Pastor. Interment will be in Atlantic City Cemetery (Pleasantville.)
