Barbara Oakley Obituary
Hopewell - Barbara Bishop Oakley, 79, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021. She was the daughter of the late William G. Bishop and Ernestine Coburn Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bubba Bishop.
Barbara was employed with Hercules and was the very first female buyer for the company. She retired after many accomplished years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and watching her favorite television shows. She especially loved baking for her family during the holidays. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ernest Oakley; daughter, Christine Latino and her husband, Bob; son, Tod Oakley and his wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Nicholas Oakley, Katherine Oakley, Brianna Oakley, and Ally Latino.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Glenn Allen, VA 23060. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
