JAMES WILLIAMS Obituary

Mr. James Henry Williams, Jr. of Richmond, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the River View on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center, Hopewell, Va.

James Henry Williams was born August 12, 1935, to the late Lucille Mason and James Henry Williams. He was preceded in death by his children, Beatrice McCray, Joseph McCray, and Rose Oliver; sister, Mamie Crump; and two brothers, Willie Mason and Howard Williams.

As a child, he was educated in the Petersburg Public School System. He attended Bethesda Baptist Church in South Chesterfield, Va., where he sang with the Maggie Lawrence Choir. He later moved to Richmond, Va.

He leaves to cherish his memories six daughters, Beverly Harris (Milton) and Sharon Cain (Bernard), both of Chesterfield, Va., Loraine Harris of Hopewell, Va., Angela Vaughan (Tracy) of Chesapeake, Va., Latisha Harrison of Richmond, Va., and Donna McLaughlin (Floyd) of Petersburg, Va.; six sons, James McCray (Deborah) and Jamie Harrison, both of Chesterfield, Va., Gregory Williams, Kenneth McCray, Keith McCray (Towanda), and Jermaine Harrison, all of Richmond, Va.; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Florence Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

During his stay at River View, he enjoyed the service that were render by Pastor William and Patricia Gibson.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Enriching Life Hospice Team: Registered Nurse, Stacy; Aide, Princess; Social Worker, Melissa; Bereavement Coordinator, Sam; and Chaplain, Hector. I could not have made it without your support. Thank you! I also like to give thanks to some of the staff at River View: Administrator, Lauren Noonkester; Director of Nursing, Rochelle Oliver; Unit Manager, Tracey McWilliams; Social Worker, Ann Drewery; Aides, Linda Shabazz, Kori Smith, Tequila Kelly, Rachel, and Tracy Johnson; Nurses, Donna McLaughlin, Beth Riddle, Florence, Shelly Mason, and Michael Perotta; Physical Therapist, Sandra, Glinita Winfield and Shirley Covington. Thank you for the care you gave to my father, affectionately known as "Mr. James," "Leroy," "Pops," "Boyfriend," and "Dad." I also would like to give a very special thanks to Dr. Muhammad Farooq.

Services for Mr. James Henry Williams, Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Ronald Briggs, eulogist. Interment to follow at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
