Marjorie Kidd Obituary
Born on July 9, 1920, to the late Henry Grady Hart and Nannie Elenor Johns Hart of Lunenburg County, Va., Mrs. Kidd was a 1942 graduate of Madison College and a former home economics teacher at Stony Creek High School from 1942 to 1949. On Aug. 4, 1945, she married Ralph M. Kidd at White Sulfur Springs, W.Va., while Ralph recuperated from wounds received in World War II. Mrs. Kidd loved to cook, sew, visit and help her family and friends in any way she could. She always admitted she had "lots of curiosity!"
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Ralph M. Kidd Jr. of Stony Creek, Va.; an aunt, Mrs. Shirley Johns of Victoria, Va.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Geraldine K. Taylor of Richmond, Va.; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and dear loyal friends. She was "Auntie" to Dick, Jim, Christopher, John and Richard G. Kidd of Stony Creek, Va. Mrs. Kidd was an active member of Fort Grove United Methodist Church in Stony Creek.
There will be a graveside service for Mrs. Kidd on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Va. with the Rev. Dan Armstrong and the Rev. John Crocker officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Road, Jarratt, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fort Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, Stony Creek, VA 23882. We just want to thank everyone for everything. Margie loved people.

We are so sorry to learn of Marjorie's death. She was such a sweet and wonderful person. She always had a sweet smile and kind word for everyone. She has touched many lives, mine being one. The community has lost a wonder woman, wife, and mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ralph and Ralphie.

So glad we got to see Margie and family last Thursday. She reminded me so much of my grandmother. They were both alike in that they always did so much good for other people. Now they both are in Heaven with the other angels. And fond memories of her will live on with all of us here.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a true delight, one of a kind. I know she will greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. I know that she is in heaven with the rest of the angels. Hang in there and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Having known Margie all my life and living across from her a number of years ago, I was sorry to hear of her death. I last saw her at church a few years ago and even though it had been quite a few years she came forth to greet me. My deepest sympathy to all of her family and may God grant each peace in all the warm memories of her life.

To have known Margie and been a small part of her life here in Stony Creek has been a blessing to many. Margie could always be depended on to be the "first response" when tragedy, sickness, misfortune or joyous occasions happened to you or your family. The kindness she showed to my family during the passing of both my parents will always hold a special place in my heart.
There is no doubt that Margie's passing will be a great loss to all who knew her.
