Richard Bride Obituary
He was the son of Grace L. Bride of Dinwiddie and the late Raymond F. Bride. He attended the "Old Carson School" as a child and graduated from Dinwiddie High School. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Bride was a life member of Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, a member of Blandford Lodge No. 3 A.F. & A.M., and a member of Second Baptist Church. He retired from Verizon after 34 years of service.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bride is survived by his wife, Martha W. Bride; son, Richard Craig Bride and wife, Dawn; daughter, Kimberly Bride Bryant and husband, Jonathan, all of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Jessica Bryant, Hunter Bride, Noah Bryant and Carson Bride; sister, Carol B. Miller; sister-in-law, Janice F. Whitley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Joseph Lewis officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, 100 B Highland Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was unable to stay at the visitation and had to work the day of Ricky's funeral. The world has lost a beautiful and joyous man, and heaven is a better place because he is there.
It is a shame that for all the ones he helped save the only one who could save him was God. I will keep each of you in my prayers. Ricky will surely be missed.

I had the honor and privilege to work with Ricky at UtiliQuest and Consolidated. He always brightened every room he entered. He was not just a counterpart but a friend that will truly be missed. My condolences to the Bride family.

Martha, Kim and Craig - It is with the deepest of heartfelt sympathy I send you my condolences in the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Ricky was one of the most kindest, wittiest, funniest and welcoming people I have ever met. Even after 20 years of not seeing him and then seeing him at a family gathering it was as if we had never stopped seeing one another on a annual basis. He will always be remembered as a genuine sweetheart kind of gentleman. I know you all will miss him so much; and are blessed to have such sweet and plentiful memories of your lives with him. May God give you strength in the coming days as you mourn your loss. Martha you and the kids and grandkids are so very lucky to have had the strong, close and loving family that you and Ricky built together. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ricky's family. I remember well the long bus trip to/from Carson with Ricky and Carol and attending Dinwiddie High with them. Martha, Kim and Craig, So sorry to hear the news. I consider myself Blessed and Privileged to have known him and volunteered with him in Colonial Heights.
