STEPHEN KOFRON Obituary

Stephen Joseph Kofron, 85, of S. Chesterfield, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Kofron, Sr. and Mary Heretick Kofron; and sister, Joanna Kofron. Steve was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Sussex Hunt Club. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service which included tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was an avid turkey hunter and loved farming.

He is survived by his sister, Kitty Collins; two brothers, Jerry Kofron and James Kofron; three nieces, Maggie Collins, Mary Ann Kofron Gates, and Elizabeth Matthews; five nephews, Matthew Collins, Father David Collins, James Collins, James Kofron, Jr., Steve Kofron; special friend and caregiver, Denise Kofron; long-time friends, Margaret Munson and Herbert Shelton; and numerous cousins.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. John's Catholic Church, 7310 Squirrel Level Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1502 Michaels Road, Richmond, VA 23229. The family is being served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
