Evan Baker Obituary
Evan was a graduate of Ponaganset High School class of 2008. He has worked as a carpenter with his father at Jon's Carpentry Service for the past three years. He had a passion for muscle cars and motor sports. He loved working on and restoring cars and as a youth raced motorcycles, earning him the nickname "Buzzy". He was a volunteer with the Foster Center Fire Dept. and had been a member of the N.E. Trailriders Assoc.
He was the loving brother of Shelby E., Isabel R., Thomas W. and Zackary S. Sprague, Alex M., Joel C. and Cole E. Baker. Grandson of Milton and Catherine Wilcox, Gilbert and Marsha Sprague, Gary and Barbara Baker, Lillian Spink, Lance and Sharon Ledbetter, and the late Barbara A. Wilcox.
His funeral service will be held Thursday at 10am in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave, (Rte.44) Greenville. Visitation Wednesday 4-8pm. Burial will be private. You don't know me, but I saw Evan's handsome picture on your ad for your bakery shop. I just wanted you to know my heart goes out to you and your family. I understnd the loss of your boy. I lost my son John in the RI Station Fire. John was 23 and not a day goes by. All my best wishes to you and your family with kindness and love sent to you. Lisa & John, It has just passed 1 year since we all lost Evan. We think of him often and with such love and smiles.. The hardest part is over, as I know from experience.. It has just passed the 3 year mark for our son Brian. We know in our heart that our boys are still with us each and every day and always will be... I don't know if you have ever gotten the chance to view Evans star, if so I am glad... We haven't had the chance to go and see our sons at this time.. Maybe it is a little of the perceived feeling of being overwhelmed or still the disbelief that our son is no longer here in actual time.. what ever the case may be, We hope and pray for all of you and Evan all the time.. Sue, Gil and family; Evan was such a sweet and gentle soul. I have such fond memories of Evan at art class. I will never forget how excited he was to let us know you were pregnant with the boy's, after we guessed you might be! He was a very special boy with whom you shared a loving relationship any mother and child could hope and dream of. He touched so many lives by his presence. The news of Evan's death has just reached me and I sit here with tear-welled eyes. What can be said? I do not know any words that would enable me to express how much I wish this wasn't true, how much I wish you never had to feel what life is like without Evan's immediate presence. I pray that God would grace you all with peace that rides the waves of sorrow with you.

Dear Sue, Gil and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing someone you love so much! I remember all the times we used to babysit Shelby with Evan and sometimes Sam. We had so much fun and enjoyed each others company so much. I regret not continuing our friendship after we stopped babysitting Shelby. He was such an amazing kid and always had a smile on his face. I'll never forget him he was such a sweetheart and i was so lucky to get to spend time with him. Every time i pass by The sight of his accident i say a little prayer for him. Dr.C and I are so sorry for the loss of your beloved son, Evan. Just the other day when you (Sue) were in the office we were reminiscing about the first time I saw him on the seat of your black sports car. I think he was 9 months old, a little blond, quiet angel. How the years fly.
Though I mainly knew Evan through your family and as a patient, he left a mark. He was very sweet, kind, gentle, and had a smile that just grabbed you. As he got older he became so much like you,Sue. His face, especially his smile and mouth were remarkably like you. I always found it amazing that two people could look so much alike. So, yes,He lives through you.

I think I'll always remember you best as the patient little boy who would try to play detective and mystery games at Nana's house with me, and how always, halfway through, I'd get impatient and leave. Yet you always played with me again, because you were always such a nice boy, the sweetest I think I ever knew. I don't know why this memory sticks with me whenever I think of you, but I think it's because it was just early proof of your beautiful soul. It has almost been two months, yet the pain still stings when I think of never having Evan at the dinner table or not hearing his laugh coming up the hallway.I am grateful that he was Amanda's first love, and he will be hard to follow. I often sit and think of words to make your pain go away. Just as everyone else does. Questions constantly run through my head about what happened but there's only one thing that is certain- He had a wonderful, caring family and a great group of friends.
