I met Gary on a city bus in Chicago in 1980. We became friends and I later met his mom, dad, grandmother and Aunt Gloria. All super people and all in heaven now. So sad Gary has died. Condolences to his family. We lost a wonderful person.

Just learnt of this very sad news of Gary passing away from Beth. I took class with Gary more than 15 years ago yet it still feels so vivid in my mind... Will always remember him for his love, care, and the way he taught that not only opened my mind but also opened my heart. May Gary live on in our collective memories! May the virtuous seeds he sowed keep growing and giving fruits.

I was so shocked and sorry to hear of +Gary's passing. He was DRE at my parish, Most Holy Redeemer quite a few years ago, the most talented DRE we ever had. We couldn't afford to keep him, so he went on to teach at other places, but we remember him so fondly. He worked with the RCIA as well as running our Religious Education Program. All our catechists remember him well, we send our love. Kathy Sanders and all his family and friends, know our prayers are with you as you deal with this loss. May he help us deal with it! take care, Margaret A. Flanagan, MCA

Mr Gary Cushing was a wonderful man and true man of God. Every morning on his commute from RI him and I would sit on the train and school bus and talk about so much it was always a privilege to have his company. Now that I have graduated I can only be saddened because his impact on future gaels wont be felt the same as myself. Rest In Peace Mr Cushing

I had the pleasure of having Mr. Cushing as my religion teacher for two years at Iona Prep (junior and senior year). Mr. Cushing had the light of Christ sparking in his soul and he was another Christ to others especially his students who were so dear to him. Like God, he loved his students very much, and always had a constant concern for them. Never did I know a teacher, who thought so selflessly about their students. He always made the effort to say hello in the hallway or see how others were doing. When alumni came back to visit, he always made the effort to talk with them and give them advice as they came back with stories of their college adventures. Iona Prep will never be the same without Mr. Cushing and we will all miss him. I send my condolences to his family and friends on this sudden loss. We will never forget Mr. Cushing. May God give him eternal rest.
