Travis Greene Obituary

GREENE, TRAVIS C.
passed away unexpectedly at home on January 3rd, 2018.
Born on March 26th, 1990, Travis was the son of David M. Greene and the late Barbara Secor Greene. Travis was a 2008 Graduate of North Kingstown High School and Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre from the University of Rhode Island Class of 2012. He won many state, regional, and national performance awards during his academic years.
Travis spent his life working in the theatre starting with North Kingstown Youth Theatre, North Kingstown High School Theatre and music departments and URI Theatre. He then took his acting and stage managing skills to the professional theatres of Theater by the Sea, 2nd Story, The Wilbury Group, Trinity Repertory company and many others. He was most recently working as the stage manager of the Masters Theater program at Brown University.
During his career, Travis was part of seventy five productions. As many people who spend their life in the theater, Travis was also a highly skilled waiter and bartender. He worked for many years at Newport Creamery and most recently at Applebee's. People who met Travis were instantly taken in by his quick wit and outgoing personality. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his father, he leaves his brother, Tyler D. Greene of North Kingstown and his loving grandmother, Shirley E. Porter of North Kingstown. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, & cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14th, from 1pm-4pm, with a brief service to follow at THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the URI Theatre Department, 105 Upper College Rd., Kingston, RI 02881.

Words cannot express my heartfelt sorrow for your loss. I'm so sorry. Travis was a friend of my daughter's, they had attended the same high school. Travis was a joyous spirit, always a smile, a great conversation. He was a caring and loving soul. My own daughter has had more than her share of sorrow and pain. It is in that experience as her mother that I will keep you all close in my prayers and thoughts. Know that he was loved.

My daughter shared with me the news that her favorite Applebee's waiter, Travis, passed away. I wanted you to know that he touched her life, and she was gushing with kind words about your son. He left a lasting, positive impression on her and her high school theater friends. We're so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences for your loss. I hope you can find comfort in the words of John 6:40 as I have.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Travis' passing. He was an amazing person to know and I enjoyed every minute I spent with him during my undergrad at URI. He helped bring me out of my shell and supported my first taste of theater. It was always a pleasure to watch him on stage, and see him run the shows backstage as well. My thoughts are with his family at this time. He will be greatly missed.

We went to elementary school together and he was always so kind to me. He stuck up for me when I was bullied even when we were so young he probably wouldn't have remembered it. His heart touched more lives than anyone can imagine, and he ALWAYS had that heart.

My deepest condolences to the Greene family. I had the opportunity to work with Travis at the Brown-Trinity MFA Program a few years ago and Travis made the whole experience such a fun memory. I was truly saddened to hear of his passing.
