Wow, I can't believe that it's been 4 years already. Thanks for everything you have done for our community and for young boys like myself who grew up fatherless. Your positive impact on our lives will never be forgotten. Thank you for setting me on the right path and for pushing me to believe in myself.

Val and Big Brothers was family to me as well as Nathan. Every time I passed old Big Brothers Office on Veterans Pkwy. I always thought of Val. I still feel his presence and smile and always will.
Nathan would not be the fine young man he is today without Val and Big Brothers.
Thank you

For 62 years Big Brothers Of RI has made a tremendous impact on the lives of Fatherless boys and 42 of those years, Val Sinesi was at the helm. He was instrumental in creating that delicate bond between a Big Brother and a Little Brother. He worked endlessly to find and impart a "positive role model" in a young fatherless boy's life. The annual Christmas parties, fishing derby's, RI State Police search and rescue events, Tony the dancin' cop were all favorites of the Little Brothers annually. The Little Brothers would receive Christmas gifts from Hasbro Toys and perhaps these would be the only presents they received. All these events and many other fundraising events were the direct result of Val's focus and tireless energy to help young boys be productive in our Society. The Agency had a excellent rapport with many of the police departments in RI. It was Val's goal to keep the kids out of the back seats of police cruisers and someday have them be the drivers of those cruisers! Val dedicated his life investing in the lives of Fatherless Boys.
He was Big Brothers Of Rhode Island.
Sincerely,

Thoughts and prayers to the family of Val in this difficult time. I first met Val in 1973 when he was a case worker for my first little brother. For the next forty years he became a good friend. Val became a role model for me. His passion and dedication for Big Brothers and fatherless boys always inspired me. I will always have countless memories of all the Christmas parties and numerous functions and events provided by Big Brothers. God bless you and may you rest in peace Val.

I had the pleasure of knowing Val for many years. My prayers and thoughts go out to all. I share this poem that was shared with me at a time of loss.
DEATH IS NOTHING
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way, which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is an absolute unbroken continuity. What is Death but a negligent accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well

Aunt Lorraine, Audrey and Billy, I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Val. He was an amazing man who gave so freely to help the youth of this world. I will always remember the Sinesi Family Christmas parties with fondness and the time that we shared. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and preyers.

My son Nathan was 6 years old when he got a Big Brother. Val Sinesi is and was responsible for changing Nathan's life .
Every week Nathan would be by the window waiting his Big Brother's arrival. This meant everything in the world to him.
Nathan is and has been working at UCap in downtown Providence.

About UCAP
UCAP (The Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program) is located in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1989, we are a unique alternative independent public middle school dedicated to reducing the dropout rates in Providence, Central Falls, and Cranston. Nathan has many little brothers. He started a basketball team for them.
I tribute this to Val giving a Nathan a Big Brother when he was very young. Nathan is still very close with his Big Brother Eric.
Thank you Val.

Val was a faithful and long-time friend. I am grateful John had Val as his best friend since their childhood days. As Executive Director of Big Brothers of RI, Val's work on behalf of fatherless boys was extraordinary and unfaltering. Val has left a special light in this world. Our deepest sympathies to Lorraine and the rest of the family.
