Charles "Chuck" G. Bloomberg

Charles "Chuck" G. Bloomberg, 81, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from complications of Parkinson's disease, with his family by his side.

Chuck was born in Moline, IL on July 21, 1943, to John Arthur and Gunhild Ruth (Swanson) Bloomberg and grew up in rural Lynn Center. He was of the Lutheran faith.

After attending the University of Illinois and participating in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, he embarked on a career in agriculture. Among his roles were Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the first Executive Vice President of the Illinois Pork Producers, and head of the Illinois Beef Council. In later years, he loved his vocation as a cattle order buyer. He was proud of his Swedish heritage and was a staunch Illini fan.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Lohman) Bloomberg, whom he married on August 30, 1986, at First Presbyterian Church, Springfield; his beloved children, Jon (Sandy Firestone) of Cambridge, IL, Brent (DeAnne) of Orion, IL, and Emily Reyes (Tom Birch) of Villa Park, IL; five grandchildren, Allison (Alex) Lybarger, Carson (Nada) Bloomberg, Mitchell, Jon and Hannah Reyes; one great-grand daughter, Ava; and one great-grandson on the way. Surviving relatives also include his sister, Susan (Eugene) Stropes of Jacksonville, FL; in-laws, Richard and Christine Jackson of Lincoln, NE; former wife, Sonja Swanson Solberg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Barbara Roark.

Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

Following cremation, a private funeral and burial will be held.
