John Arthur Myers
October 21, 1936-January 23, 2022
SILVIS-John Arthur Myers, 85, Silvis, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Allure of Moline, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline. Private graveside services will be in Rock Island National Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
John was born October 21, 1936 in Moline, the son of Ralph "Barney" and Mabel (Johnson) Myers. He graduated from Moline High School, Class of 1955. While attending Bradley University in Peoria, he played on the basketball team that won the NIT National Championship at Madison Square Gardens in New York in 1957 . He married Barb Weime, he later married Sue Oats. He married Debbie (Seabloom) Russell on July 27, 1992, in Rock Island. John retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. John was a Green Bay Packer Fan and a New York Yankee Fan. He played for the Cleveland Indian's Baseball Organization. He coached Moline Legion Baseball for 8 years and Augustana College for 2. He served in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Survivors include his wife Debbie, children; Michael (Mary) Myers, Moline, Trae (Shea) Myers, Moline, Mindy (Brad) Hood, Rock Island, Tacey (Larry) Forlano, Clearwater, FL, Chris (Marybeth) Myers, Davenport, Keith Russell, Silvis, Steve (Cathy) Russell, East Moline and Megan Russell(David Luten), East Moline, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandchildren, Mary Kate and David.

We enjoyed the visit from John and wish there could have been more. I have many fond memories of times when we were in high school. There will never be another one like him. Our best to the family.
