Linda Bernice Leib, 90, of Milan, Ill., died at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Ill., on January 22, 2025.

She was born in Beardstown, Ill. on June 25, 1934 to Lawson W. Lockard and Geneva E. (Snedeker) Lockard of Astoria, Ill. She was a lifelong resident of Astoria before moving to Aurora, Ill. and later to Milan, Ill. to live with family in her later years. Linda was a graduate of Astoria High School and briefly attended college at MacMurray in Jacksonville, Ill. She married Charles R. Leib on August 12, 1953. They were devoted to each other for 52 years before his death.

While Linda particularly loved being a mom to her four children, she also found time to do book keeping (from home) for Modern Woodman Insurance Company and later worked many years as a school secretary at the Astoria Junior High and Senior High School. She was beloved by generations of students who noted her kind graciousness. Linda often displayed a quiet gentleness in attending to others and readily shared the basis of her hopefulness, her faith in Christ. She was an active church participant and was very generous in her giving, both with her time and resources.

Linda loved gardening when she was able, and later very much enjoyed working puzzles, eating out with family and friends and reading, though her favorite activity was spending time with family.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Leib; as well as her brothers, William (Bill) Lockard of Canton, Ill. and Don Ring of Pasadena, Calif. She is survived by her four children, Pat and Jim Webb of Enterprise, Ala., Chuck and Becky Leib of Milan, Ill., John and Susan Leib of Belleville, Ill., and Tom and Becky Leib of Aurora, Ill. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and by her nephew and nieces and families.

Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, Ill. Pastor Ben Murray will be officiating. A visitation will take place one hour before the service on Friday, January 31. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Jews for Jesus.
