Bruce Summers Obituary

Bruce Michael Summers

July 30, 1958 - April 28, 2024

Bruce Michael Summers, 65, of Cottleville, MO, formerly of Bettendorf, IA, passed away on April 28, 2024, at Evelyn's House hospice facility in Creve Coeur, MO, after a courageous two-year battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

Bruce was born on July 30, 1958, in Pana, IL. He was a dedicated family man, survived by his wife, Christine; son, Scott (girlfriend Joanne Tang); brother, Jeff (Debbie) Summers; sisters-in-law: Connie Summers and Michelle (Lon) Roush; nephews: Statton (Bonnie) Summers and Harrison (girlfriend Brittany Johnson) Summers; nieces: Lauren (Aaron) Rosipajla and Lindsey Roush. He was preceded in death by his father, Stan Summers; mother, Bea Summers; brother, Steve Summers; mother-in-law, Nan Leslie; and father-in-law, Denny Leslie.

In his career, Bruce worked for Navy Brand Manufacturing for 25 years as a Sales Representative, served as a volunteer Lieutenant on the Bettendorf Fire Department for 12 years, and most recently worked for Farm and Home Supply in Cottleville, MO. He loved helping customers and working with his team members. Bruce enjoyed cruising the Caribbean and was passionate about yard work, always having the greenest lawn on the block. He also cherished spending time with family and friends. Bruce will always be remembered for his gentle smile, his elaborate storytelling, and his witty sense of humor.

Consistent with Bruce's wishes, a service will not be held, and the date for a future celebration of life will be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siteman Cancer Center (siteman.wustl.edu/tribute); or Evelyn's House General Support Fund (https://www.foundationbarnesjewish.org/Give-Hospice) in honor of Bruce.

I played softball with Bruce and Jeff on an Omeara's Pub team. Spent time drinking beer with him at the same place. He always had a funny story to tell. Sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences go out to his family.

Dear Christine, Scott & family,
Chris and I have the the fondest memories of Bruce, from HS and Bettendorf Fire Dept. He is one of the sweetest men we know! We were recently reminded of him, when a brown firebird passed by. He had the coolest car! We are heartbroken.
Sending Love and Hugs,
Chris & Shari Terry
