BLUE GRASS-Ronald A. Rekemeyer, 72, of Blue Grass. IA passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Runge Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Ron was born on April 9, 1946 in Bennett, IA to Jack and Alverna (Goettsch) Rekemeyer. He was a 1964 graduate of Central High School in Davenport, IA. After high school he went into an electrician apprenticeship, then was drafted into the US Army and went to Vietnam. While there, he received a purple heart and honorably discharged in 1971. In 1966 he married Helen Tadder and together they had 3 children, Doug, Michael and Theresa. In 1986 he re-married to Rita Cawiezell in Davenport, IA.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood-working, gardening, going to auctions and spending time with his family. He loved seeing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working the wild game feed once a year. Ron was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA and the American Legion in Blue Grass, IA.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Rita; twin brother, Richard; sister, Peggy; children: Mike (Deanna) Rekemeyer of Davenport, IA, Yvonne (Gary) DeGreve of Bettendorf, IA, Yvette (Mike) Sippel of Fox Lake, IL, Rob (Jenni) Mohr of Chisago City, MN, and Sonya Mohr of Davenport, IA; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Alverna; and his children, Doug and Theresa.

Rita - so sorry to hear this news! I now live in Texas so I could not touch base at the time of his services. My high school memories of him and "the Walcott kids" will always be special to me. Know I often think fondly of you and our RJ days.

So sorry to hear about Ron. My twin sister Peggy and I had our picture taken with Ron and Rich years ago before a twin convention. That picture has always been a fond memory for me
