Harold Flack Obituary

Harold F. Flack

July 13, 1938 - January 24, 2025

Harold F. Flack, 86 years old, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away January 24, 2025, at Monument Health Hospital. Harold was born July 13, 1938, in Milbank, South Dakota, to Wesley W. Flack and Harmina H. Broekema-Flack. Harold married his love, Arlene M. Carroll, on January 1, 1957, in Custer, South Dakota. They just celebrated their 68th anniversary! To this marriage, three children were born: Arlene Elaine, Howard Floyd and Alan Wesley.

Harold grew up quickly helping support his parents, brothers and sisters by driving truck and hauling a variety of materials. He continued this trade after marriage, until he became an Ironworker, working on missile sites, buildings, dams, and bridges. He traveled often for work to support his family. In 1981, he opened A&H Truck Salvage in Rapid City, South Dakota. He operated this business with his sons for nearly 44 years. Harold was a generous man, often helping out family members. We will miss his long good-byes, referred to as, the Flack good-bye.

Harold is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Elaine (Rich) Karsky, Howard (Jeanne) Flack, both of Rapid City, S.D., and Alan (Julie) Flack of Las Vegas, Nev; brothers, Robert Flack, Wesley (Rhonda) Flack and Wiley (Kathryn) Flack. Harold loved his grandkids, Anna Marie (Uriel) Gutierrez, Erika (Greg) Haggerty, Ashley (Danny) Williams, Aaron Flack, Adam (Rachel) Flack, Jayla and Lexi Flack. He has eight great-grandkids. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patsy, Delores, Sharon and Alice; and best friend/brother, Lloyd Flack.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the gravesite. Arrangments are with Kirk Funeral Home.
