She was married to Henry "Hank" Hershey Jr., who predeceased her. Born in Mt. Penn, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jack W. Evans Sr. and Blanche M. (Berns) Evans.
She is survived by daughter, Vicki A. Cowley, wife of Neil Cowley; a son, Henry E. Hershey III, husband of Mary Beth (Heffley) Hershey; 5 grandchildren: Heather Seyler; Elizabeth Werner; and Brandon, Ashley and Justin Hershey; 8 great-grandchildren: Ella, Audrey, Zachary and Chloe Seyler, Vivian, Avalyn and Blake Werner, and Ethan and Baby Hershey; also a sister, Susan Brown, of Birdsboro, and brother, Jack W. Evans Jr., of Reading.
She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Regenhardt.
Barbara was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School, class of 1950.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, Reading.
She found great enjoyment being with her family.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 301 South 5th St., Reading, PA 19602.
Henninger Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.

Though I had only begun to spend time with Barbara, I had enjoyed her company. I was looking forward to getting to know her better and spending more time with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family now as they move through this difficult loss. ~Kelly Buss

We will miss Barbara very much. She was a wonderful caring person. Bob and I are very happy that we had the opportunity of knowing her and sharing good times together.

BarBara was an outstanding volunteer. Before she moved to Reading, they lived in Virginia. She worked with my sister in law Audrey Mowson who edited 8 cookbooks all proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society.Barbra believed in giving back to her community. Our sympathy to her family.
