Barbara F. Schaeffer

Barbara F. (Fritzinger) Schaeffer Barbara F. (Fritzinger) Schaeffer, 74, of Maxatawny Township, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Clarence S. Schaeffer, whom she married April 27, 1968. Born in Allentown, Barbara was a daughter of the late Ernest, Sr. and Florence (Day) Fritzinger. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School and was a member of Zion’s Union Church of Maxatawny. Barbara was employed a cleaning lady for the Kempton Hotel for many years, until her retirement in 2008. She also worked in the same capacity at the former Campus Inn, Kutztown, and as a sewing machine operator at the former Kutztown Sportswear. Mrs. Schaeffer was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Grange No. 1777, Topton. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Clarence, Barbara is survived by her children, Robert J., Schaeffer, and his companion, Micki J. Bryant, Fleetwood, Stanley G. Schaeffer, Fleetwood, and Tammy W. (Schaeffer), wife of Christopher L. Hamm, Kempton; sister, Karen (Fritzinger) Rothermel, Maxatawny Twp.; brother, Ernest Fritzinger, Jr., Mertztown; grandchildren, Kimberly, Joshua, David and Ivana Schaeffer, Melissa and Daryl Rothermel, and Cordero Hamm; and great-granddaughter, Rose M. Schaeffer. Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother Keith A. Fritzinger. A funeral service to celebrate and honor Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Jeffrey J. Butz officiating. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
