Born in East Nantmeal Twp., he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Francis (Wanner) Snyder. He was married to Phyllis (Byrum) Snyder.
Edgar served in the US Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1975. He also worked as an electrician, plumber, and plant maintenance for R-V Industries, Inc. in Honey Brook, retiring in 1998.
Later, from 1998 to 2006 he and his wife worked as full-time missionaries with SOWERS. They lived in an RV and helped build Christian camps, addiction recovery centers, and children's homes from NY to CA. He enjoyed hunting and taking his grandsons fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Terry Snyder of Morgantown, and Michael, married to Teresa (Seidel) Snyder of Birdsboro; a daughter, Kathryn Snyder of Morgantown; four grandsons: Christopher of Newmanstown, Brandin and Ethan of Birdsboro, and Alex of Morgantown; a brother, Jack, married to Linda (Sweetwood) Snyder of Pottstown; and two nieces, Jill and Debbie.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 7 p.m. at Hopewell Christian Fellowship, 2286 Hopewell Road, Elverson, with the Reverend Mark Kraybill officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6-7 p.m.
