She was the widow of Harold J. Kretz, who passed away in December 1985. Elizabeth and Harold were married on April 26, 1938, in Salisbury, Maryland. Born in Reading on Sept. 22, 1915, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Emma P. (Totheroh) Biehl, Elizabeth was a member of Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing, Pa., and also a graduate of Wyomissing High School.
She enjoyed the companionship of English bulldogs through most of her life. Elizabeth and Harold especially enjoyed taking cruises around the world to Germany, Copenhagen and Liverpool, where they lived for some years.
Surviving are four grandchildren: Harold J. III, husband of Connie L. Kretz., Muhlenberg Township, Charles P., husband of Carol D. Kretz, Sterling, Mass., David S., husband of Carol A. Kretz, Reading, and Richard M., husband of Melissa A. Kretz, Exeter Township. There are also several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren surviving. Elizabeth was predeceased by her son, Harold J. Kretz Jr., widower of Linda L. Kretz of Wyomissing; two sisters, Larue Kretz and Helen Seaboldt; and a grandson, Mark W. Kretz.
Graveside services from Laureldale Cemetery, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Tuckerton, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, Suite 105, 4 Park Plaza, Wyomissing, PA 19610, in Elizabeth's memory. I was truly sorry to hear of Mrs. Kretz's death. She was my last remaining contact with Holland Sq. and we exchanged Christmas cards until the last year or so. Her handwriting always reflected the beauty of the Palmer Method system. I'll miss her informative notes.
