Dear Barbara and Julia,
A beautiful smile from ear to ear. Adoration of his little girl, Julia. Unspoken words of love. A sweet voice. Compassion. A soft, gentle touch. A sweet laugh. The magic of stories shared. An extra mile traveled to help someone. Good Italian food shared. Are only a few wonderful moments I shared with John when I was a child.

His smile was contagious to all he would meet
His unspoken words of love were so sweet
He is looking down on us like a star
so we can see that he is still by our side and not so far
John was a person who shared his warmth of unspoken words of love, compassion, laughter, and a high-level of commitment that left an imprint on my life
I will carry him in my soul as I continue my journey the rest of my life.
He once was a caterpillar sitting on a leaf.
All he could do was crawl, climb, & eat.
He spun a tightly woven cocoon
It took him until noon
He learned life's lessons, connected with his spirit, and grew wings
that fluttered as he opened them to prove he could now do anything
He was anew you see,
He shed his pain and sorrow you see
Now he can fly free
How beautiful it is for him to be
I am sure if he were here he would thank us for helping him on his journey from a caterpillar into a butterfly~

Brother John,
Words escape me as I think of how much you mean to me. You stood by me, calling me Brother, full of wisdom and advice. My heart hurts for I will miss you deeply. I have learned so much from you and it will be hard knowing that you won't be there to offer counsel when I need it the most. I can't help but think of all the victories we shared, both personal and professionally. We were a great team! I thank you for being my friend, my teacher, but most of all, thank you for accepting me as a brother. Rest well, my dear Brother, may God bless you and keep you!

My condolences go to Representative Caltagirone and his entire family upon the death of his great brother, John. I met John in 1990 through the work I had done for Representative Caltagirone in the legislature and had the good fortune to later work with him in the House. John cared greatly for the people of Reading, Berks County and Pennsylvania. He always acted as a true professional. I considered John to be a good friend and an outstanding person. His departure from this world will definitely leave a void. God Speed John Caltagirone.

Since I was told of John's passing, I have had a heavy heart. I was honored to be allowed to call him brother John as well as fellow Uncle John. But what I am most proud to call him was Friend. A friend that would call me a few times a year to give me advise or even to ask me what I think on various issues. Our community is a much better place having John amoung us and will be sorely missed. God bless you John and your family.
