My deepest condolences to the Gerhart family. Having worked with Randy for many years at GPU, we both then worked at Quest Diagnostics where his wit and humor followed him. When he bought the Van Reed, I fondly remember all of the stories he told about the revamping efforts, and the result shall remain as a tribute to him. As some of the "old GPU gang" would gather at the Reed the first of the month, the "first one" was always on Randy. He will be missed by all and hopefully he will be watching as we continue to gather going forward.

Sincere condolences to the Gerhart family. Met Randy during my employment at GPUSC. We quickly became friends and spent many hours together with Fries, Stallman and Wise. He was a stickler for taking 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks, rounding up the gang to be sure we were included. I always remember around Xmas time we all would take a half day vacation to go Xmas shopping for our loved ones but never seemed to buy any gifts! Seems like yesterday we were all at the Reed giving Pat a hard time! God bless, Randy.

I met Randy at GPU. He was one of my first mentors. He would create problems for me to solve. I thought he knew everything. Turns out he was just very smart. We became friends. He made me feel like I belonged. He included me on his adventures. Race trips, Christmas shopping, buying his next toy. I’ve heard Stanley’s old jokes hundreds of times. Extremely generous. Always managed to buy the last round no matter how I tried. I’m hundreds of beers behind. Always had time to help with a task or a question. One flaw was that he was not a baseball fan. Never really did get it. Football season started in July for him even though I insisted it was baseball season. Michele and I have been alternately laughing and crying the last few days. We miss him. His two favorite questions: Half day? Stoppin’?

Randy was the first person that my son Levi and I met when we first went to the van Reed Inn. He jumped out of his chair and gave us his seat so that we could sit enjoy his delicious wings that he was so very proud of. The van Reed will not be the same without him. We enjoyed talking to him and laughing with him every Friday night as we went in after work. My heart hurts for his wife and family. We prayed for you this week and we will continue to cover you in prayer

I have fond memories of Randy's Saturday trips to Fred's Music Shop, where his son took guitar lessons. He was always fun to talk with, and he was a good customer, shopping for guitars and equipment for his son, who he was very proud of. Best wishes to his family during this unusual holiday time.
