Born in Breezy Corners, he was the son of the late Earl L. and Gertrude (Conrath) Seidel.
Richard was a graduate of Oley Valley High School, class of 1951.
Richard "Dick" Seidel retired from Carpenter Technology in 1985.
Prior to his employment at Carpenter, he was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953.
In 1972, he became Township Supervisor and Road Master of Ruscombmanor Twp., a post he held until his passing.
Mr. Seidel was inducted into the Pennsylvania Supervisor Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2005, a township park in Pricetown was named in his honor.
He enjoyed hunting in Wyoming and at his cabin in Tioga County, PA.
Richard was a founding and life member of Rusco Hunting Club of Morris, PA.
He was also a loyal NASCAR and Ford fan.
Richard will most be remembered for being a hard worker and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa R. (Essig) Seidel. Children: Dianne T. Bagenstose, wife of Herbert of Greenville, PA; Kim R. Seidel, husband of Kathy of Oley; and Michael A. Seidel, husband of Ann of Midlothian, VA. Grandchildren: Christie Straub, wife of Joel; Steven Seidel, husband of Lori; Laura Carver, wife of Joe; Alex Messner, Austin Seidel, Nicholas Seidel, and Jillian Seidel. Great-grandchildren, Trevor and Brayden. Surviving siblings: Anna Mae, Jerry, Gloria, Pat, and Barry.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Carrie, Earl N., Betty, Harold and Marvin.
A memorial service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, N. 16th & Rockland Sts., Hampden Heights, on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5-7:00 p.m.

I was so saddened when I heard the news of Dick's passing! Our sincerest condolences to the family! He was such a great asset to the township and will be deeply missed by many! They are going to be some very hard shoe's to fill! We always knew we were in good hands having him for our neighbor! RIP Dick!
