Dear Family of Mrs. Vera Clemente:
I am a Member of Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church, 600 East 35th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60616. The Reverend Dr. David B. Thornton is the Pastor, The Moderator of The Session, and The Head of the Staff. He is also not only my Pastor, but my Mentor, Teacher, and Spiritual Advisor.
I am also a Proud Former Member of Church Musician Ship Guild, Inc. (1988-2008). The late Dr. Mildred G. Lewis was The Founder, and Executive Director. I was their Executive Secretary, and Public Relations Director.
I will keep you all in my prayers, especially during this difficult time. Vera seem to be a wonderful person, I am reaching out to all of you. Please always remember that you all loved Vera, but the Lord our God who is truly awesome will love her even more. With My Christian Sympathy, MS. VALINDA DARLENE JONES, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO. I sadly remember standing in my bedroom when the news came over KDKA radio when the horrible news of Mr. Clemente's plane crash was announced. I will always remember #21 as a true humanitarian first and a star baseball player second. The passing of Mrs. Clemente leaves an imprint in my heart of the true love the Clemente family represents. I am a Bronx native and used to go in the summer months to the Roberto Clemente pool. As an adult, I reflect on the great memories my family and j had there. My heart goes out to the Clemente family on the loss of a wonderful woman. May the God of all comfort provide you all the strength to cope with your loss.

I was blessed to meet Vera in Pittsburgh during the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the 1971 World Series Championship. We were filming interviews for the Dock Ellis documentary NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY at the Roberto Clemente Museum and Vera graciously gave us an interview and then we all had dinner together afterward. It was a great honor and she was an incredibly down to Earth and kind person. Condolences to her family and the many, many people who loved her.

Roberto was the greatest right fielder I have ever seen,his throw was right to home plate from right field and was so accurate.

My condolences to the Clemente family. How blessed are the sons of Roberto and Vera to have parents who set an example of what everyone should strive to attain. Upon Roberto s untimely passing while on a humanitarian mission, no one would have blamed Vera if she had withdrawn from public and focused on raising her three fatherless sons. While devoting herself to them, she continued her husband's work to make this world better. She accomplished her goal. Mr. and Mrs. Clemente are to be commended and admired for their efforts and also for their grace and dignity in doing so. I regret that I never had the honor of meeting them.My thoughts and prayers are with the Clemente family.

I am a diehard Clemente fan. So much so that my seven-year-old grandson is doing his book report on the life of Roberto Clemente. The work that Mrs. Clemente and her family have done Is a testimony to the love they have in their heart, and the generosity they have shared will always be remembered and honored.
