Barbara Susan Steneck

1945 - 2023

Barbara Susan Steneck, 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Nick Palmiotti. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York and in 1972 moved to West Islip, Long Island, with her growing family. In 1975 she moved to Meriden, CT, where she lived until 2022.

Barbara attended grade school at St. Catherine of Genoa School and graduated from Catherine McAuley High School in 1965. After staying home full-time with her children for over ten years, she held various administrative positions. She was most recently employed by Saturn of Wallingford where she made lifelong friends. She retired in 2008.

Barbara was best known for her sense of humor, silly antics, memorable laugh, love of a good time, and love of animals. Throughout her life, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, and playing bingo but her true passion was cooking and sharing with friends and family her famous sauce, meatballs, eggplant parmesan, and buffalo wings. Her later years were spent playing cards with her grandchildren and visiting with family.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Susan Steneck and Robert Sickinger, Christine and Michael Barillaro, and Barbara and Clem LaRussa; her son and his spouse, Gino and Barbara Jean Steneck, and her five grandchildren, Nicholas Sickinger, Mackenzie Sickinger, Olivia Sickinger, JJ Steneck, and Maddie Steneck. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Palmiotti.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23rd from 4 - 7 PM at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM in the funeral home. The burial will be private.
