Elizabeth Kennedy Obituary

MERIDEN - Elizabeth Mary Daley Kennedy, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday Sept. 11, 2011 with her family by her side. Betty, as she was known by her friends was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had worked for 30 years at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and retired as Director of Medical Records. During her retirement, Betty was an active member of the Tri-Town Golden K and formed many friendships.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph "Butch" Kennedy and her sister, Mary Jane Feiffer. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Mauri; of Meriden, Thomas Kennedy and his wife, Beverly, of Middletown, Peter Kennedy and his wife, Linda, of Southington, and Michael Kennedy and his wife, Cynthia, of Meriden. Betty leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren. Thomas Mauri and his wife, Deanne, of Meriden, Ryan Mauri of Meriden, Evan Kennedy of Oakland, Calif, Kara Kennedy, of Middletown, Kristen Martin, and her husband, David of Meriden, Michele Cozzolino, and her husband, Michael of Southington, Erin Kennedy, of Meriden, Brian Kennedy, of Plainville. Five equally cherished great-grand children, Alex, Rebecca and Brendan Mauri of Meriden, Joseph Cozzolino of Southington and Keira Kennedy of Plainville.

The family would like to thank Sister Catherine and the Franciscan Hospice team and also her very devoted aides: Delores Adom and Martha Smith who had been with her since January 2011.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Joseph's School, 159 West Main St. Meriden, CT 06450. Elizabeth, her children and great-granddaughter Rebecca were all proud graduates of St. Joseph's School.

Kennedy family,

It is such a loss to loose a mother.Betty was a beautiful,gentle soul who always gave from her heart.She will be missed by many and those that knew her will feel blessed and honored to have had that privilege. Take comfort in knowing she has earned her wings in heaven and is at peace.
