Eric Styche Obituary

Eric James Styche, 46, of Wallingford, husband of Melissa (Faust) Styche passed away unexpectedly December 8, 2021 at MidState Medical Center after suffering a massive heart attack.

He was born in South Weymouth, Massachusetts on May 12, 1975 and grew up in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, graduating from Ligonier Valley High School 1993. Some of his most treasured friendships come from growing up in Ligonier.

After his family moved to Cape Cod, Eric spent years working for Hyline Cruises in Hyannis, MA, which fostered his love for the ocean and all-things boating. More recently, renewing his pursuit in sailing.

While attending UMass Amherst he met Melissa and after graduating they married and moved to Enfield, CT where they raised their two children and loved many pets throughout the years. They just recently moved to Wallingford so as to be able to spend more quality time together as a family and follow their dreams for the future.

Eric worked for Nel Hydrogen for 20 years in many roles, most recently as Technical Service Manager. He enjoyed traveling for work, being able to see different parts of the world.

Eric's passion for music, cooking and brewing, his dry wit and humor, his calm demeanor and steady resolve will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. His children adored him in all he did for them, from coaching sports to supporting them in their musical and artistic interests. He was not only their father, but their best friend as well.

In addition to his wife, Melissa, he is survived by his children, Aaden and Madison Styche; his parents, James and Sally Styche and his brother, Ben Styche, his wife, Brooke, and their daughter Lydia, all of Sandwich, MA; his in-laws, Dennis and Pat Faust of Enfield; his brother-in-law, Jason Faust of Windsor and his sister-in-law, Becky Faust of Enfield.

His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4 pm until 7 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, December 16, 2021 directly at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his children, C/O Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. Wallingford, CT 06492.

Melissa, I'm sure that the time has not made the loss any easier. I hope you are coping and adjusting as time goes on. I lost my brother many years ago, so I know that the loss always lingers.

I loved this man and I will miss him...bad! He was a good friend and colleague. One of the coolest dudes around! My heart is so heavy. Condolences to Melissa and the kiddo's.

Melissa,
It has been a very long time since my days at Proton with you two. You guys were so cool and nice. Down to Earth and just good people. I was so shocked and truly sad to hear about Eric's sudden passing. My brother dies about 10 years ago with very little warning; gone in just a few hours. Life is not always fair and never goes as planned. I will be away for the calling ours in NY. If I can arrange it, I will try to make the funeral ceremony. Words will never say enough to make up for your children's loss of their Dad. Hug them and comfort them aways.

I´m heartbroken for the family´s loss and you have my sympathy and prayers. I graduated from Ligonier Valley HS with Eric and remember him as a fun friend to everyone who smiled easily and laughed at the typical goofy nonsense we participated in as kids. Praying for your peace and comfort.

Eric was a treasured partner to so many people. I was co-worker with Eric, and so valued the opportunity to work with him. Losing Eric in this untimely fashion is such a tragedy. He was a steady hand on the tiller - always listening, consistently fair, decisive, and with great judgement. My heart goes out to Melissa and their kids, and his extended family.
