I want to express my sincere sympathies for your loss.
I have a lot of great memories of times with Fred. Don't remember the exact year that Fred moved into our neighborhood. But shortly thereafter Fred, Russ and I became the best of friends and spent many great days together. Fred was the 1st to have a car and he used to pick Russ and I up every morning and we'd all go to school. That old Buick had a bad habit of stalling every time we got on the railroad tracks, but Fred always had a way of getting it restarted and there were never any incidents, just a lot of laughs. Shortly thereafter he became the proud owner of a 1957 Chevrolet 2 door coupe. One beautiful great running car. If I am not mistaken Ray Whitney had a lot to do with getting that car running really fine. We spent many a night at the old Sesames Drive in or McDonald's on the Berlin Turnpike. On other nights when we were a little short on gas money, we'd hang out at the McDonald's just below Hubbard Park in Meriden.
After graduating we ended up working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft two different depts at opposite ends of the factory, but shortly after both depts transferred both Fred and I to work in a special area where we worked side by side. After I was discharged from the Navy, Fred and I started a small part time woodworking business called Flintlock Woodworking.
Many great memories.
