Joseph Raymond Belanger

MERIDEN - Joseph Raymond Belanger, 86, husband of the late Carmen (Roy) Belanger, died on Sunday, April 10, 2016, following a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on Oct. 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph Elzear and Marie Vitaline (Bolduc) Belanger of Saint Ephrem-de-Beauce, Quebec, Canada. He had resided in Meriden for over 60 years. Raymond was a master machinist for 40 years and worked on the Hubble Space Shuttle. He was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church, a member of the League of Sacred Heart and a member of the Meriden Knights of Columbus. Raymond was the past president of the Franco-American Club, where he was a member for 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Connell and her husband, Vernon G., of Simsbury and Carol Zeiler, of Columbia; four grandchildren, Vernon B. Connell, Wesley R. Connell, Jill Giulietti and Lisa Poirier; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Eva and Ethan; two sisters, Pauline and Louisette; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Jeanne Belanger.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11 a.m. at St. Laurent Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery.
