Sally Coleman Obituary

Sally T. Coleman
Sally (Tsarides) Coleman (97) died peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the Regency House of Wallingford after a prolonged illness. Born in the 'City of Champions', Brockton, MA on January 27, 1928, Sally Coleman was the daughter of the late Panagiotis (Peter) C. and Mary F. Kouroyen Tsarides. She was the devoted wife of the late Stuart N. Coleman. They lived together in Wallingford for over 64 years. Mrs. Coleman attended the Brockton city public school system and graduated from Brockton High School in 1945. She went on to attend Simmons College in Boston, MA, and Nasson College in Springvale, ME where she graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. Sally was a Home Economics teacher at Lyman Hall High School from 1949 to 1960. She later returned to the Wallingford school system to teach middle school students with learning disabilities. She was a tutor for homebound students and a mentor to students needing supportive help in school. Sally was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church in Wallingford, where she often served as a deacon. She truly loved the church community and volunteered on several boards and committees, including the role of trustee. She was a member of the Bell Choir and served for several years on the 'Committee on Ministry' for the New Haven Association of the United Church of Christ. Sally was an active volunteer with many local civic organizations. She was a board member and officer at the Wallingford Family YMCA. She was also a member of the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra Auxiliary, mainly assisting with the production of children's concerts. Sally may be best known for her involvement with the Wallingford Public Library Association. There she served for many years on the Library Board of Managers, holding several offices, including that of Board President. She was a member of the Wallingford Library Building Committee from 1978 to 1985 and was active in all fund raising activities since their inception. In 1997 she was awarded the Trustee of the Year award by the Association of Connecticut Library Boards. In October 2018, she was recognized and celebrated as a 'fifty year' volunteer for the Wallingford Public Library. The Coleman-Ives award is now presented in her honor annually to Wallingford Public Library volunteers displaying exemplary community service. In 2006 Mrs. Coleman was inducted into the Nasson College Alumni Association Hall of Fame for her continued leadership and contributions to education, community service and the library in her community. She is also a lifetime member of the Little Red Schoolhouse Association in Brockton, MA. Sally is survived by her beloved son, Philip J. Coleman of Wallingford, her sister Paula Tsarides of National City, CA, and her grandchildren, Sarah Coleman Rojas (Jose), Andrew Coleman (Lauren) of Wallingford, and Dianna Kremzar Barry (Steven). She is also survived by her former daughter in-law Amy Coleman, three great-grandchildren, Cristiano Oliveira, Ellie Marie Coleman and Darek Kremzar, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Stuart, she was predeceased by her brother Vernon Peter (Pete) Tsarides of Mashpee, MA. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will then be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by Interment at In Memoriam Cemetery. I´m so sorry for your family´s loss. I´ll always remember Sally´s spark and smile at church! She was always very supportive of the church school program when I was a superintendent. She will be missed.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom Sally. She was a great woman and I really loved her. I remember for many years, she would host the family Coleman. Reunion Cookout and did a wonderful job, and for as long as I have known her, she would send a beautiful Christmas card every year with a long detailed letter about how she and her family were always doing. She never forgot us and I will never forget her. She was a great woman
