David Quinn, Sr.

Northfield, MA - David G. Quinn, Sr. 94, of Northfield, MA died Thursday (1-30-2025) at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Greenfield, MA on February 25, 1930 the son of Emerson and Ellen (Gardiner) Quinn. He was a lifelong resident of Northfield being raised by his Aunt and Uncle George and Minnie Kidder. He was educated in Northfield schools and was a 1948 graduate of Northfield High School where he was president of his class. He was married to the love of his life Julia Ladzinski on June 20, 1950 in Millers Falls, MA Julia predeceased him in 2018 after 67 years of marriage. He graduated from New England Institute of Anatomy Sanitary science and Embalming in Boston, MA in 1951. He returned to Northfield and became owner of Kidder Funeral Home upon his uncle's retirement.

He served on the Northfield Planning Board for many years, and was a 48 member of the Northfield Fire Dept. retiring in 1994 as Assistant Chief. He was a charter member of the Northfield Kiwanis Club serving in 1957 as President. He was an original Water Commissioner when the Northfield Water District was formed in the late 60's. He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Church serving on the Parish Council and serving as Usher for many years. He was a member of the Franklin County Flying Club being a licensed pilot of which he was very proud. He was a member of the Yankee Antique Car Club. He spent many years operating Kidder Ambulance Service and was a certified EMT-I. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, traveling, playing golf, flying, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, David Quinn, Jr. and his wife Paula of Northfield, MA and his daughter, Joanne Streeter of Bernardston, MA and his grandchildren, Michael Quinn, Theresa Tsipenyuk, Benjamin and Justin Streeter. He is also survived by his brother William "Bud" Hume and his wife Marsha of Northfield, MA and thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wednesday (2-5-2025) from the Kidder Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St, Patrick's Church, Main St., Northfield, MA. The Rev. Paul Bombardier, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Northfield.

There will be calling hours on Tuesday (2-4-2025) from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations in his memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 80 Main St., Northfield, MA 01360.
