Mark Davis Obituary

Mark A. Davis

Conway, MA - Mark A Davis, 52, died unexpectedly at home April 8, 2023. Mark was born July 4, 1970 to C. David Davis and Margaret Rae (Roaf) Davis, both of whom predeceased him. He lived in Conway his whole life, except for one year in Los Angeles, CA. He was educated in Conway through the 4th Grade. He then enrolled at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield where his grandparents were the head chef and head of housekeeping and he had spent much of his time when not at home. He then went to Frontier Regional and later Greenfield Community College where he was in the Outdoor Leadership Program.

Always skilled with his hands, he took his first part time job at 13 as a bicycle mechanic and bought his first car with his earnings before he was old enough to drive. He did a lot of work to get that car roadworthy for when he was able to get his license.

As an adult, he was employed as a restoration plasterer and carpenter. When he felt he no longer was tough enough to keep up in those very physical occupations, he chose to be in retail sales, the last several years at Pekarski's Sausage.

Mark was always willing to help anyone in need and he was very proud of his years with the Conway Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance crew. He was also an animal lover. He fully approved of anyone hunting for sport who consumed the products of their efforts but, when groups of deer or turkeys were in his yard, he was always quick to get a photo or video just to preserve the beauty of the moment.

Mark always loved a good laugh. In that regard, his closest friends and family will remember him as a 12-year old with 40 years of experience.

In addition to his wife, Tiffany Angell, he is survived by his brother David of California, his godparents Steve and Eileen Schneider of Conway, several cousins, and so many friends. He is also sorely missed by his cats Junior and Lulu.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

Anyone who wishes to honor his memory is welcome to make contributions in his name to Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, Massachusetts 01101. Arrangements were made under the direction of Wrisley Funeral Home of South Deerfield.

Whelp, just an old EBS acquaintance from Eaglebrook. I remember Mark as a kind human who I would encounter around the dining hall. Always a sheepish smile - kind of like the cat who caught the canary. Earth will miss him. Condolences to the family...

I'm sad to hear of Mark's passing. I was a Brookie that connected with Mark over skateboards and cars. I haven't seen Mark since we were in our twenties. We used to fall off skateboards by his parents house then we'd drive cars in his grandparents muddy back yard track, before dinner on the weekends.

I drove by Mark's grandparent's house about a year ago and thought, I need to look him up and reconnect, I'm pretty sure he lives in his grandparent's house. In retrospect, I should have just pulled in an knocked.

It's funny how life pulls you away from the people who had a great impact in your life. You're well loved and missed by many, my old friend. Sorry I did not get to say hello one more time and talk Spitfires and turbos.

Yesterday I went to Pekarski's to restock my larder and asked where Mark was - that's how I found out about his passing. I was stunned. For quite a few years we chatted about cars, snow plows, and animals, he was so unassuming, yet knew so much and it was always clear that he had a heart of gold. I made sure to go Thursdays through Sundays since I knew he would be there and we would have an enjoyable, far-ranging conversation. My sincerest condolences to his family - what a great human being.

We were so sorry to hear of Mark's passing. I remember him as one of my sweet second graders with an easy smile. He left this world much too soon and I know he will be missed. Condolences to Tiffany, his family, and friends.

I have so many fond memories of Mark in high school. He set me up on my very first date and remained a good friend even when the match fizzled. I am so sad to hear of his passing - he was one of the good guys.

*Note: The first time I recall Mark using the phrase "Turbo: power when you need it," was during a road trip and we got into a tight squeeze - a vehicle was coming into our lane unannounced - Mark hit the gas and we all accelerated away to safety. Everyone was quietly stunned for the moment and that´s when Mark made his spontaneous and epic statement. The phrase became an instant and often-used favorite.

Mark was an awesome dude and a lot of fun.

When I think of him I remember a man who was loyal to his friends, always at the ready to assist with a project or problem, and blessed with an innate daring boldness.

Back in the day, Mark had a turbo Volvo and it was from him that I learned the turn of phrase, "Turbo: power when you need it." Mark would say that as he stepped on the gas and all the passengers could feel the force of the turbo engine as we roared down the open road. It was a blast.

Thank you Mark, for the life lessons in friendship, kindness, and adventurous courage.
