Maurice Taylor Obituary

Maurice W Taylor

Greenfield, MA - Maurice W. Taylor "Mo" passed away peacefully at home on Saturday (10/14/23). He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

He was born in Greenfield, MA, the son of Maurice W. and Verna (Eastman) Taylor. He grew up in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1965. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany. While serving there, he joined the Ski Patrol in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, patrolling the Zugspitze on the Bavarian-German border.

Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Greenfield and worked as manager for The Body Shop Auto Repair, and in sales for the Toyota dealership. He then worked for several years at Pleasant Journey Used Cars in Northampton until his retirement.

He was not only an avid skier, but a skilled pool player who played on a team that traveled to Las Vegas for Tournament play. He also loved flying and would join a friend for flights over New England.

He was the beloved father of three daughters; Stacey Rutherford (husband Derek), Nicole Browell (husband Steven), and Erica Aldrich (husband Evan). He also doted on his grandchildren; Jonathan, Alexis, Erin, Haley and Leah, and filled their lives with laughter and warmth.

He leaves several nephews, nieces, and

extended family members, who loved "Uncle Mo", and the time spent with him. He also leaves his former wife, Linda Taylor, and his former wife, Deborah Taylor.

He was pre-deceased by his father, Maurice W. Taylor, his mother, Verna Taylor, his sister, Edith Ellsworth, and his brother, Peter Taylor.

His love, humor, and wisdom touched the hearts of many, and his memory will live forever in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He made strong connections and lifelong friendships with many throughout his lifetime.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. His family appreciates your love, support, and prayers, as we all remember what a special person he was in our lives. In honor of Mo's memory, the family kindly suggests donations may be made to a Veteran's charity of your choice, or the Shriner's Hospital for Children.

My sympathy to Stacey, Nicky, Erica & your family. Your father was one of the most happy & energetic people I´ve ever met. I never saw this man upset, down or having a bad day. He seemed like he worked 24/7. I wish you all the most wonderful memories of your wonderful father.

I worked with Mo at Pleasant Journey. His sharp wit, sense of humor and friendship made the workday better.
After his retired, we would often text during Red Sox/Patriots games - I always looked forward to it.
I´m sure everyone who knew Mo considers themselves to be lucky, I know I was.
He will be missed.

I met Mo through my then boyfriend Tom Almstead over 30 years ago. They were part of great pool team out of the Polish Club in Greenfield. I include a picture of the team at that time. I made the little memory box after one of the team members, Paul Hanley died. How young they all were!

Mo was always the most kind and still funniest of all the members.

One by one, the members have passed away leaving only a few. Tom, now my husband, and Mo were best friends and enjoyed so many great times... at Pete´s Fish Market on Thursday nights, annual clambake, Big E with Tom´s brother Ray, Umass basketball games and of course pool leagues. And how he loved to drive a fast car on winding roads, shifting the whole way.

What a wonderful person to have walked this earth with. Rest in peace Mo!

My dearest friend, Mo Taylor. My heart hurts today. I managed the building where Mo resided, I will always treasure our talks in the morning when he would stop by the rental office before he went off to work. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known, and he will be deeply missed.

Mo was my neighbor at the Mill House. He was a sweet and kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. I know that he is dearly missed by a lot of tenants here. Rest in Peace Mo.

I first met Mo several years ago at Toyota but more recently became friends at the Mill House. It always brightened my day when Mo would sit and chat while I worked on a puzzle. I will miss that treasured friendship and Mo´s humor that was uplifting. Heaven has gained a special angel. RIP my friend.
