Shirley Demers Obituary
Greenfield, MA - Shirley H. (Ovitt) Demers, 98, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 with her loving daughter Billie Shirl by her side.
Shirley was born in Ashfield on March 7, 1926, one of 13 children born to Ralph and Lillian (Dufresne) Ovitt.
She enjoyed sewing and growing flowers in her garden.
Her family includes her daughter Billie Shirl Rosenberg, with whom she lived, two sons Harry Demers, Jr. of Greenfield and Carson Demers of California, grandchildren Robert Demers, Caitlyn Purinton, Erica Coutu, Amanda Jones and Steven Coutu, ten great grandchildren, six siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and her favorite companion her dog Tara.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10/2, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 34 Monroe Ave, Shelburne Falls. Committal prayers will follow in Arms Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Shirley's daughter Billie would like to express sincere gratitude to Heather of Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, for her love and support she gave Shirley over many months. Your dedication and devotion will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Joseph's Church or Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care.
