Leona Waggle Obituary

Leona Vera Lee Waggle

Apr. 13, 1939

Nov. 03, 2023

Leona Vera "Lee" Waggle passed away on November 3, 2023 after a long illness. She was 84 years old.

Lee was born on April 13, 1939 in Hanford, California to Marvin and Della Thomas. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1957 and married Don Waggle on October 8, 1960. Don and Lee lived in Porterville for most of their lives raising their two sons. They were married for 43 years when Don passed away in 2003.

Lee was an administrative assistant for Attorney Robert Natzke, Cal-Farm Insurance, and Allstate Insurance. She also worked in the City of Porterville Parks and Leisure Department. She retired in 2012 to spend more time with her family in Arizona and Wisconsin.

Lee was a sweet, kind, loving, and gentle person that truly cared for those in her life. She made many long-lasting friendships while growing up in Lindsay and living in Porterville. She always said that "you can never have too many friends". She certainly lived by those words.

Lee loved her family beyond measure. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her three granddaughters. She loved them so very much. She also enjoyed church, Christmastime, and traveling with family and friends. She liked going anywhere as long as it was with the people she loved.

Lee was predeceased by her parents; brother Lawrence Thomas; sisters Genny Stuart, Nellie McCowan, and Wanda McClellan; and husband Don. She is survived by her sons Brian Waggle and Greg Waggle; grandchildren Violet, Emily, and Zoe Waggle; sister Zelma Lansford; and many nieces and nephews.

Lee will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I remember the "Thomas girls". All beautiful and part of our Faith Baptist Church of Strathmore family along with their brother Lawrence!! Good friends ! Leona aka Lee was a very successful person who helped many in her path of life! My heart goes out to all the family and especially Zelma in Colorado! May our great God give His peace in the knowledge that she was one of His and now is walking with Him in Glory ! Love and prayers!

Miss Lee, I am saddened to hear of your passing. I enjoyed the time we spent working together at COP. I remember you being overjoyed about becoming a grandmother. You loved your boys and your husband so much your face lit up when you spoke of them. You turned me onto Leticia´s tamales which continue to be the best I have ever had in my life. Sweet dreams my friend.
