Melanie McElrath Obituary
She was born November 12, 1943 in Porterville, California. She traveled frequently with her family in the Army and lived in Ketchikan, Alaska before settling in Newport News, Virginia. Melanie enjoyed walking the Noland Trail, reading murder mystery books, watching sci-fi television shows, and spending time with her cats.
A Visitation will be held from 7:00-8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to your local SPCA or Humane Society. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.

Allyn, Kent and Lyle,
Frank and I wanted to tell you that we are sorry for the loss of your mother. We knew your mom for several years and always looked forward to seeing her. We too wish that she had been able to enjoy her retirement longer. She was a very sweet, kind hearted person and we will miss her.

I am sorry to learn of Melanie's passing. I also worked with her for years and was saddened to learn of her illness and now her passing. I wished that she had been able to enjoy her retirement for a longer time. I know she will be missed and my thoughts are with the family.

I worked with Melanie for 18 years and always enjoyed her warmth, sense of humor and smile. I know she loved her family deeply and appreciated what good care you all took of her. I will miss her.
