Dear Pam - Words can not express my shock in finding this out some 6 years later. Dave was an amazing wonderful man. I just happen to google people that were wonderful to me & to find this was just surreal. I see you reside in Wilton now. I hope you and the girls have found peace in the amazing memories with Dave....wow I just can't believe this. What a tragedy.

Dear Pam, Michelle and Alysha,
I just found out this last weekend that your husband and father had passed away. I knew Dave from when he was in High School. He came to our school his senior year. Even back then everybody loved him. Wherever he went, he always had a bunch of friends and they were always heading out for some adventure. I was very sad to hear of his death. It seemed he had had a hard childhood yet never complained. When I got home and was able to google his name and find out what had happened and read all the entries from you and his friends I felt better seeing how much he was loved by you and hearing how happy he was. My prayers are with you all.

My Dearest Love,
For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.
David, I thnk about you a thousand times a day, everyday. I couldn't let today go by without saying Happy 21st Anniversary.
I am grateful and blessed that you chose me as your wife.
I love you and until we meet again...
Love, Pam

Dad,
You said I could do anything I set my mind to. I don't know if you realized how much those words influenced me and continue to influence me now. Even now when I try something new or dream of doing something different, I hear your strong, encouraging voice cheering me on. And it's true, I can do anything I set my mind to, because I have a dad who believed in me & taught me to believe in myself. I love you dad, happy father's day

Always in our hearts Big John!

Pam & family, I work in the UK for Marshall Aerospace and have been working with Dave for the past three years on a project and in fact was only in AASC visiting Dave in early April. I think I speak for everyone at MA when saying that Dave was a wonderful man who was a pleasure to work with. He was ever helpful, with a lovely manner and sense of humour. It was a pleasure to know and work with him and I consider him not only as a person I knew through work but also as a friend. Everyone at MA who knew Dave would like to send their sympathies and let you know that he and you and your family are still in their thoughts.

Dear Hartley family,
I am the youngest brother of John Bergsma who perished in the same accident with your husband and dad. I think we share a similar grief together right now, as we have lost men we loved so much. I did not know Dave, but John said many things about the guy down the street in the Victorian home and what a great pilot and friend he was. I wish you all, the very best and hope you can find the peace that your hearts are seeking at this time. If I can be of help to you, please contact me anytime.

Pam,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. As you know, Dave and I were flying friends for years, as well as hunting and fishing partners. Like everyone who knew Dave, I will never forget his skills as a pilot and his generosity as a friend...

I am really sorry for you and your family for the recent accident that your husband Dave had. I pray for any peace that the Lord can embrace you and your daughters with. Take care my friend.

Dave’s greatness in everything he did was overshadowed only by his modesty. But nothing overshadowed his love for his precious Pam, Alysha and Michelle. May you all find peace in knowing that Dave will forever be your hearts.

My deepest regrets and sympathy for your family. I had the pleasure of meeting David and talking with him during his dental appointments at my office. I may not have known him for very long, but from what I do know he is a sweet man. He always spoke to me about his family. Never about work or day to day problems we all encounter, but always sweet words about his family. I know that there are no words that can take the pain away from losing a loved one, but do know that he is watching over all of you in heaven. Looking down with a big smile on his face, wishing he was still here with all of you, but knowing that God has plans for him..My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Tania

Sometimes, people go through life unaware of the ways in which they touch the lives and hearts of others, the way you and your family have touched mine. The depth of the love and devotion that you shared and will continue to share with each other shines bright and hopeful. The girls and I are thinking of you all, a lot and will be here whenever and however you need us.
