Norma Meath Obituary

Lockeford, CA

Norma Arlene Meath

Sept. 9, 1921 - March 13, 2008

Norma Arlene Meath passed away peacefully at her home in Lockeford on March 13, 2008. She was born on September 9, 1921, in Waldron, Arkansas to Father and Mother Cook. She married Anthony "Tony" Meath, Jr. in Alaska, and shortly before World War II, the couple moved to the Lodi area. When Tony went to serve in the South Pacific, Norma did her part here at home as a forklift operator. Mrs. Meath was an avid bowler who enjoyed music and dancing. She also loved the outdoors. Norma was an excellent cook and was well-known in the area for her prize-winning chili. She was dedicated to her church families in Wallace and in Clements. She had a heart of gold, and now the Lord is blessed to have another angel at His side.

Mrs. Meath is survived by her sons, Bill Meath of Lockeford and Mark Meath of Lodi; grandchildren: John, Tara, Anthony and Joseph Meath; siblings: Fayne Cook of Lathrop, Nolan Cook of Valley Springs, Eugene Cook of Manteca, Noreen "Sissy" Lawley of Modesto, Vondell Smith of Lockeford and Wanda Hansen of Manteca; and 138 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Tony Meath, Jr.; daughter, Gayla "Baby Sis" Meath and brothers: Sonny, Elmo, Arty, and Darrell Cook.

Friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, March 20, from Noon until 8 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. in Lodi. A chapel service will be held on Friday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with committal to immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. To Bill and Mark and All the Cook Family, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Norma and Tony's passing. They are in a better place. It's been years since I've seen any of them. I, Pat grew up across the street from Eugena Cook (my best freind) and my mom (Lucille Sturges)still lives there. Our time here on earth is really very short, that why we need to live for the Lord. Bless you all !
