DENNIS MURPHY Obituary



Greenwood Lake, NY

Dennis S. Murphy, Sr. of Greenwood Lake, a retired baker for A&P Bakery in Queens, NY and a retired bartender at Murphy's in Greenwood Lake, died on Friday, July 2, 2010 in St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick. He was 75.

The son of the late Michael and Margaret Flynn Murphy, he was born on August 2, 1934 in New York, NY. He was the widower of Loretta Murphy.

He was a member of the Greenwood Lake Elk's Lodge.

A family statement reads: "The family wishes to thank the ICU unit of St. Anthony's Hospital for their kindness and car of Dad."

Survivors include his children: Loretta "Lori" Hadden and her husband, Fred, Michael Murphy, Dennis "Chip" Murphy and Richard Murphy, all of Greenwood Lake. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chris, Bobby, Danny, Katie Rose, and Mylie Rose (granddaughter's dog); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, July 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Strong-Basile Funeral Home, 4 Oak St., Greenwood Lake.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Warwick.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Community Hospital.
