Grace DeCarlo Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Grace A. DeCarlo, of Newburgh, formerly of Walden, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus, with her family and friends at her side. She was 82.

Daughter of the late George and Emily Powell Corno, she was born on March 5, 1927 in Newburgh.

Grace was the widow of Salvatore DeCarlo and co-owner of the Subway Restaurant in Walden.

She leaves behind her sister, Katharine Ryan of Pahrump, NV; children: Mary Spooner and her husband, William, Abbey Smith and her companion, Richard Tremblay, Paula Peters and her husband, Neil, Melvin and William Tweed; grandchildren: Ericka Booth, Jessica Weygant, Jennifer Harvey, Justine Zukowski, Lee, James, Paul and Anissa Goble; several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, James Tweed.

"Our family would like to send a sincere thank you to Lorraine Adebahr, Jessica Richmond, Donna Davis and George Mogavero for being with our family at our time of need. We also send many thanks to the staff at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital and Elant at Newburgh for the care they gave to our mother. She will be in our hearts forever and we will miss her always."

Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney, Ave., Newburgh. Grace will be laid to rest in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden.

Memorial donations in Grace's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hudson Valley/ Rockland/ Westchester, NY Chapter, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060.

Mary and Family Just want to say I will miss your Mom very much she treated me just like a Daughter because she yelled at me too. Iam glad i was there at the hospital with the family when it was her time to go she will be missed.
