Joseph Olympia Obituary
Son of Joseph Olympia and the late Dorothy Hadden, he was born May 5, 1937 in Newburgh.
Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Oglethorpe. He was a member of the Heights Club. He was very passionate about living in Florida and was a devoted family man who enjoyed his grandchildren more than words could ever express.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy Riley Olympia at home; five sons, Daniel of Idaho, Joseph of Walden, Jeffery, Darren, and Jonathan all of Newburgh; two daughters, Dawn Olympia of Rock Tavern and Joanne McCleary, of Newburgh; his father, Joseph Olympia of Miami, Fla.; two brothers, Douglas Olympia of New Windsor and Michael Longley; two sisters, Pamela Longley of Broome County, N.Y. and Sue Szeli of Newburgh; grandchildren, Melinda, Mathew, Richard, Bronson, Darren, Samantha, Madison, Nicole and William; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Burns.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8 at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
