LuLumae Stewart-Weygant Obituary

Newburgh, NY

LuLumae Stewart-Weygant, of Newburgh, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009 at home. She was 45.

Daughter of Mary Frances Ruud Weygant and the late Andrew "Gumpy" Weygant, she was born March 23, 1964 in Newburgh.

She is survived by her son, Craig Stewart of Newburgh; her mother, Mary Frances Weygant of Newburgh; brothers: T.J., Andy, Michael, and Larry Weygant, all of Newburgh; sister, Jean Marie Farrell of Long Island; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 13, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

Lu was like a second mom to me when I was younger. Her, frannie, and Lu where inseperatable. Which was great for me I got an extra mom to help look after me, as well as, a cusin that was like my brother. We all did everything together and it made for such a great childhood. I will always miss and love her deeply. Lu will never ever be forgotten.

As your birthday approaches on the 23rd, I think of you more and more every second. I remember this time last year making jokes of naming the baby Lulumae ;) Even though my due date was the 23rd and he came the 20th....It will always remain a special day for all of us to shed tears and celebrate your life. Lulumae-

No words exist to describe what I go through since you've been gone.
All the emotions that washed over me, mixing with my tears and the rain that hit my face and beat my body as I walked away from the phone call that brought me the news of what had happened. It is now almost 3 months later, and still there are no words to describe my thoughts and feelings. But if my mind will stay still and not travel back to that brutal fateful night....I will form something like this:

My loved one is no longer a part of my daily life. No longer faces hurt in this world of pain and strife. I no longer hear her speaking but she's still my very own. Our loving memories surround me, and I never feel alone.Love comforts and encourages me, to face each mournful day-it gives me strength, and takes the pain of loss away. Life, I know is eternal-and I find healing in my tears....And knowing that my loved one is with the man upstairs.
Lu, life is but a journey, and we're all just passing through. As pop use to say;
"There are many rooms in my fathers house- I go to prepare a place for you"
Those who have gone before you, and those of us still to come....We'll all be together and yes, we will live again. So for now sleep with the angels, I love you baby...

When we were kids my sister LuLu was always the baby, but she was always the lady. My sister has so much class. I don't know of anyone who knew her that didn't like-love or respect her. She would do whatever it took to help people, her love for family was stronger than any love I know of, her mom and dad were her whole life. Then her son Craig was born, from day one he got every thing a kid could want. My sister would do whatever it took to get it for him. Whenever me or one of my brothers would get sick she would stay with them until we were better. She would cook, clean and baby us until we would get better. LuLu would say I Love You Bro everyday, I know this because I spoke to her almost everyday. She cared for people on a daily basis. I once was with my sister on Broadway, she was driving me to the doctor's it was cold, snowing and raining. We saw a girl by Broadway School with no coat or shoes you could see she was a street girl. LuLu got out of the car went over to the girl. She gave her the coat off her back, then she took off her sneakers and helped the girl to put them on. This poor girl was freezing but LuLu did what she has done so many times before. She then gave her money to eat a hot meal. I can't tell you how I felt that day watching my sister, do what I've seen her do before but this one really took to heart. LuLu returned to the car like it was really nothing what she had did. I was so proud of my sister, I loved her so much. The pain in my heart will never go away. I see her every where I go. I'm now a better person because of my sister. I hope to carry on and give just like she did. I hope I make people's lives better even if it's a small thing or big thing no matter what the object is to help when you can. People have been telling me so many good stories about LuLu, some made me cry some made me laugh, but they all were so good I want to share them all. I hope that someday soon we can. Remember my sister for all the good she's done and don't let anything destroy that. With Love Your Loving Brother Michael Thank you so much for being there.

Lulu,
I couldn't believe it was true, when I heard what happened to you.
Although we haven't spoke for years, this was something that was hard to hear.
Knowing this was true left so many feeling blue.
Remember when we were young hanging out and having fun? We thought we were cool when we use to skip school. We walked along the railroad tracks, never bothered looking back. Summer days seemed so long and how we all got along (PLS).
Swimming in the river or in your pool trying to keep cool. The cellars were no place to be, especially playing hide and seek.

I want to share a memory, that I hope will bring a smile to your face.
My one memory that keeps coming to mind is when LuluMae was about 7.
When Bruce & I first started dating, we would be on your porch saying goodbye, and she would stand there right between us and not budge. No matter what Bruce would try, until he offered her a Quarter, every time, he had to give her a quarter...I still smile with that.
I remember telling her, she should've held out for .50...
I love all of you, and miss you more than you know.

I seen lulu the FRIDAY before this happen at the corner gas station on South William Street and Lake Street and we were so happy to seen one another..we just embraced...we hadnt seen each other in years...she told me about her son and then we just started reminiscing about the good times we had when we were younger on William Street...Hasbrouck Street....West Parmenter...We were just so happy to see one another...The good times with LULU will never be forgetten...she"ll always be remember...she was always a people person...she got along with everybody...LuLu thank you for that last memory we had together...it will remain with me until we meet again...so save a seat for your friend ( LOVE, MAMA)

My condolences to the family. Lulumae will missed by alot of people. She had such a personality. She would make me laugh. I am sorry to hear of another tragic loss. Little Andy hasn't been forgotten. May God comfort you all during this time.
