Raymond Mayen Obituary

Raymond W. Mayen Sr., a lifelong resident of Dutchess County, died April 4, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 64.

The son of Edward Mayen and Irene Teed Mayen, he was born April 15, 1940 in Highland.

He was a 1960 graduate of Fanwood, New York School for the Deaf, White Plains. He worked in shipping and receiving at IBM in East Fishkill and attended St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He loved sports, especially the New York Jets and Notre Dame. Raymond was an active member of the deaf community. He was a member and former president and vice president of the Hudson Valley Club of the Deaf and also served on their Board of Governors for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Stoughton and her husband David of Beacon, Nancy Giamportone and her husband Domenick of Wappingers Falls, Raymond Mayen Jr. and his wife Alicia of Marlboro, Joanna Bernstein and her husband Michael of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Brandon, Sierra, Savannah, Stephanie, Torilyn and Amanda; brothers, Robert Mayen of Hopewell Junction, Kenneth Mayen of Poughkeepsie, Gerald Mayen of Albany; sister Carol Alfonso of Charlotte, N.C.

He was predeceased by his fiancée Valerie Schreiweis.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

Interment will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Jct.

Bobby, Kenny and family; My thoughts and prayers are with you. The many good times we had together helps relieve the sadness when I read about Raymond. He was one super guy. God bless him.
