Richard Benting Obituary
Richard Michael (Dick) Benting, at the age of 74, died in Redding, CA, on January 21st, 2021.
Dick was born in Vallejo, CA. He grew up in Lake County and could always be found with friends or working with his hands. Especially on cars. Stopping only for a short period to proudly serve our nation in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Dick became a business man. As an entrepreneur, he brokered cars, and owned several businesses including a women's clothing store, deli, laundry mat, and was owner and distributor of Herbathol Products, and PetFlap Inc.
He moved to Redding with his family in 1990, and pursued a career in real estate, where he built his name in the community managing several properties and centers in and around the Redding and Weaverville area.
Anyone who knew Dick knew how much he loved life. He loved to golf and socialize with friends and family at Riverview Country Club, All Stars Sports Bar, or Downtown Bar & Grill. He was kind, funny, honest, loyal, and one of the most generous people you'd ever meet. He had a strong faith and loved the Lord.
Dick would help anyone for any reason and never expect anything in return. He touched countless lives. He would go anywhere, do anything, make friends with anyone.
He was the life of the party. Always smiling, telling jokes (mostly inappropriate), and laughing. He had so much love for his family and friends. Especially his grandson.
Dick taught his children the importance of family, respect, kindness, humbleness, and love. His humor will live on through them.
He will never be forgotten because "Everyone loves Dick".
He is survived by his sister, Sharon, of Clearlake, daughter, Candace, son, Brandon, and grandson, Bennett of Redding. He was preceded in death by his Father, Hubert, and Mother, Margaret, and was laid to rest at the Veteran's Cemetery in Igo, CA.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 11th, at Gold Hills Golf Course Event Center in Redding, CA. The gathering will be from 12 noon until 5pm. All are welcome.

Dick and I became friends in 1960 when my family moved to Lower Lake and he was my neighbor. We were even born in the same town (Vallejo). Throughout our school years and young adulthood he was always so good to me and such a great guy that everyone loved. Always the life of the party, full of energy and a heart of gold. We lost him too early but we will never forget him.
