PATRICK SIMMONS Obituary

PATRICK (PAT) EDWARD SIMMONS Patrick (Pat) Edward Simmons, 59, of Edina, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2024, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the cemetery on the Simmons family farm in Morton. In memory of Pat, the family kindly requests donations be made to A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation, PO Box 387, Wayzata, MN 55391 (https://abreathofhope.org/online-donation/). Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service - Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Pat was born September 20, 1965, to Robert and Geraldine (Tisdell) Simmons in Redwood Falls. He attended school in Morton and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1984. Pat graduated from Mankato State University in 1988. He worked for Wells Fargo as a private mortgage banker and, more recently, a market sales manager. He took pride and found community through his work. On October 11, 1997, Pat was united in marriage to Karen Brandt at St. Edward Catholic Church in Bloomington. They were blessed with two children, Jake and Caitlin. Pat was a kind, patient and loyal friend to all who knew him. He was happiest surrounded by his family, whether spending time at home or embarking on trips and adventures together. An early riser, Pat often captured sunrise photos, welcoming each day with enthusiasm. He found joy in biking, hiking, golfing, bird watching, morel mushroom hunting, and being immersed in nature. Pat taught us to live life to the fullest, always up for anything and embracing every moment. He consistently went the extra mile for his kids, supporting their dreams and aspirations with unwavering dedication. He emphasized the importance of faith, hard work, and appreciating life's simple pleasures, all while encouraging them to have fun along the way. As a trusted confidant and connector among friends and family, he always made sure everyone felt heard and valued. He took great pride in the Simmons family Facebook group, encouraging everyone to post photos, share stories, and celebrate their shared history. A loving husband, father, cherished brother, uncle, and friend, Pat's impact was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Family gatherings were among his favorite occasions, where he could delight in preparing a meal to bring everyone together, turning ordinary days into unforgettable moments of connection and joy. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 27 years, Karen; children: Jake and Caitlin who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts; siblings: Anne (Jeff) Peltier, Bill (Ann) Simmons, Karen (Durkin) Guthrie, and Margaret (Mark) Remillard; father-in-law Keith Brandt, brothers-in-law: Mark (Barb) Brandt and Bryan (Sally) Brandt; nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Logan) Vold and their children Alexander and Joseph, Andrew (Katie) Simmons and their children Emily and Elizabeth, Anthony (Elise) Simmons, Liam Guthrie, Madi (Justin) Kloos and their child Luka, Alexa Brandt, Blake Brandt, Piper Brandt, Jerome Brandt, Syri Brandt, and Layton Brandt. He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Beverly Brandt. As we gather to celebrate Pat's life, let us remember his spirit and laughter, the little jokes we enjoyed together, his love for life and the great outdoors, and his extraordinary ability to bring people together. May we honor him by embracing the lessons he imparted and carrying forward his legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness. Blessed be his memory.
