Charles Switzer Obituary

Mr. Charles Frederick Switzer, Jr., 80, a resident of Washington and a former resident of Greenville died Friday March 6, 2015 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 8, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Gene Williams. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Frederick Switzer, Josh Tetterton, Tawney Ange, Greg Tripp, Billy Mosley and Glen Houston will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Hicks and Bruce Branch. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of his son Rick located at 400 Northwood Rd., Washington. Mr. Switzer was born in East Chicago, Indiana on April 2, 1934 son of the late Charles F. Switzer, Sr. and the late Susanna Wasko Switzer. He served his country in the U. S. Army and served during Desert Storm. On July 22, 1951 he married the former Margaret Jean Johnston who survives. He retired from DuPont Corp. in Kinston where he was a craftsman in many fields in their maintenance department. He was a member of the Greenville Crown Point Masonic Lodge where he was a past Master Mason and was a past Emergency Medical Technician with Pactolus Volunteer Rescue Squad. Mr. Switzer was a member of Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville. Surviving along with his wife of Washington is a son: Charles Rick Switzer, III and wife Melinda of Washington; a daughter: Jo Lynn Wade and husband Ralph of Morehead City; six grandchildren: Frederick Switzer and wife Cristen of Washington, Krystle Ange and husband Tawney of Jamesville, Josh Tetterton and wife Deanna of Morehead City, Lyndsey Wade of Morehead City, Allison Frk and husband Bret of Asheville and Emily Wade of Durham and five great grandchildren: Charlie and Callie Switzer, Ian and Findley Tetterton and Wade Frk. He was preceded in death by a brother: Edward F. Switzer and a sister: Margureta Switzer. Flowers are welcome and appreciated or the family kindly asks for any memorial contributions to be made to Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 2241 Old Pactolus Rd., Greenville, NC 27834.
