Donna Bowen Obituary
GRIMESLAND - Donna Marie Bowen, 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Harmony Hall in Kinston, NC.
Donna was born on March 15, 1968 in Pitt County to Willis Earl Bowen and Alice Faye Jones. She attended Farm Life Elementary, West Craven High School, and Mount Olive College.
She enjoyed being with her friends, family, and loved her cat, Lexi, and her dog nieces, Kallie and Pippa. She loved sports and was a huge ECU fan, Duke basketball fan, and NFL fan. Donna was unselfish in her love for others and in giving to others. She had one of the kindest, purest, and youngest hearts. She had been employed with Walgreens for the past 21 years and previously spent 10 years at Howell's Child Care, where she spent many nonworking hours with the children and taking those who could leave the facility, to the park to play. She would buy them clothes, as many of the children were wards of the state. She always tried to help those less fortunate than herself.
Donna was predeceased by her father, Willis Earl Bowen; mother, Alice Faye Jones; step-father, Roy "Buddy" Jones; sister, Cherylene Bowen Parker; paternal grandparents, Jasper and Verna Bowen; and maternal grandparents, Leon and Sadie Hardy.
She is survived by her sisters, Windy Bowen-Horn (David) of Greenville and Brenda Bowen Blanco of Vanceboro; nephew, Kevin Parker (Shari) of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, Lani Hindman (Nathan) and Carter Blanco George (Anthony), both of Greenville; Kaitlyn Brotherton of Norfolk, VA; one great-nephew, KJ Parker and great-niece, Khailie Parker, both of Virginia Beach, VA.
Donna requested no service and asked that her ashes be spread over the mountains of NC, which will be done at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the charity of your choice, the Humane Society of Eastern NC at 3520 Tupper Drive, Greenville, NC 27834, and/or the ECU Pirates Club at the Ward Sports Medicine Building, Greenville, NC 27858.
