HENDERSON - James Michael Gray, 69, of Henderson passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his home.
Born in Chatham County on February 24, 1956, he was the son of the late James Alton Gray and Lois Ruth Shaw. James was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Harley Owners Group and the Goldwing Road Riders Association.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor John Owens will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Catherine Smith Gray; three children, Katera Smith (Matt), Danny Gray and Justin Gray; seven grandchildren, Conner Smith (Kristie), Avery Smith, Dalton Gray, Delana Gray, Brendan Stewart, Makenzie Gray and Brody Gray; two brothers, Darrell Woodell ("Punkin") and Mark Gray; one sister, Debbie Rosso (Chuck); a special cousin, Pat MacAlister; special friend, Duck Edwards (Diane); all of the Edwards Grocery crowd; five fur babies, Otis, Molly, Suna, Squirt and Big Buddy and several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Keith Smith and his best friend, Tony Barker.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tom Wilson, Justin Gray, Conner Smith, Dude Barker, Scott Hilgoe, Mark Czysz and Larry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Trent Hayes, Dalton Gray, Wyatt Faulkner and Landon Tingle.
