Jesse MacArthur Jones

AYDEN - Jesse MacArthur Jones, 73, of Ayden passed away at Vidant Inpatient Hospice on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
He was born on April 5, 1943, in Pitt County to Lewis and Mamie Burroughs Jones. "Mac," as he was known by many, was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda; and both his parents.
He was a member of Grifton Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a retired police officer, working for both the state police and local government agencies. He was a skilled carver and woodworker and enjoyed building dollhouses and other various things in his spare time.
Mac is survived by his two sons, Christopher Jones and special friend, Kimberly, of Texas and Jackie Conway and fiancé, Marianne, of Winterville; his daughter, Lisa Harrison and husband, Duane, of Kinston; three brothers, John Jones, of Tennessee, Bruce Jones, of Colorado, and Steve Jones, of South Carolina; two sisters, Sybil Bixler, of Havelock and Larue Swoyer, of Florida. Mac also leaves behind six special grandchildren, Cody, Riley and Chase Conway, Bayleigh Jones, Kenli Harrison and Kaybren Harrison; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grifton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden.
